Professional Skills Foundation – 2026 workshops - Task 042
Fit to programme
This task has been identified by the working groups as part of the agenda behind WP 3.4.
The task number is 042.
Summary
To contribute to a series of professional skills events in 2026 which will kick off access to a core foundation, to be built on by the later outcomes of tasks 015, 016, 017, 038. Applicants could apply to run individual workshops or pathways, and participants could select depending on their own training needs. This would fill an immediate gap in provision as well as support future SHAREing tasks.
Possible topics suggested at previous WP3 meetings include training needs analysis/skills & strengths, project proposal writing, project planning, risk management, resource management, time management, leadership & collaboration skills, technical writing, reporting and sustainability/impact, presentation and communication skills. That list is not exhaustive but they should be suitable for early career dRTPs or dRTPs training in new areas (such as leading their own projects) working in accelerated computing.
Approach and Methodology
This task could be covered by one applicant/collaboration covering the essential skills, or by multiple complementary contributing bids building up a programme. Given the national scope of SHAREing, this could be delivered by longer in-person/hybrid training days, or by shorter online/asynchronous modules. Costs relating to the development, delivery & dissemination of training and/or materials may be applied for and should be justified in the application. This includes staff time and travel, for full details see also: Flexible Fund Guidance - SHAREing
Outputs
The task should deliver accessible training sessions during 2026 which cover core professional skills tailored to dRTP audiences. They should result in open resources (either online training courses, or templates, slides, guides etc) which can be made available on the SHAREing website. They should also involve an evaluation/feedback mechanism for attendees, summarised with lessons learned in a short report which will contribute to the design and delivery of 2027 courses which are developed under the existing WP3 tasks.
